This marks our very first product update post — and it’s a big one. Hooper is evolving fast, and this release introduces Teams for organized rosters, improved AI Scorer Detection, and early Leaderboards to compete globally. It’s the beginning of a smarter, more connected Hooper.
Teams are now smarter — we’ve introduced best-guess auto-tagging that uses jersey numbers from your team roster to help identify players automatically. This reduces the amount of manual tagging needed and speeds up highlight generation for everyone.
Thank you to everyone who created teams before this feature launched — your patience made it possible for us to roll this out properly. Your existing rosters now immediately help power this more automated tagging flow.
We also made improvements to Groups. As a recommendation: use Groups for organizing weekly pickup runs, and use Teams for jerseyed or recurring organized teams. This keeps your rosters clean while still giving you a place to coordinate casual games.
Panning support has steadily improved behind the scenes — and it’s now ready for wider use. If you have an auto-panning gimbal or tripod, try the Import feature to see the improvements in tracking and stability.
We’ve made meaningful improvements to scorer detection accuracy. You should see more consistent shot recognition and more reliable player assignment across a wider range of angles and lighting. This is part of an ongoing effort — not the final version — and your feedback will continue to guide us.
And as you can see from the screenshots above, we’ve also released Player Mode Tagging — a faster, player-focused way to tag sessions. You can lock onto one player at a time for quicker confirmations. It’s especially helpful for trainers or parents tracking multiple athletes.
Compete worldwide — individually and by groups. For now, rankings are based on the sessions you’re tagged in. This early version is meant to collect feedback so we can improve and expand on it.
Huge thanks to everyone sending feedback, testing features, and helping us improve Hooper week after week. Special shout-outs to our Discord community — bettercallscott, whereswalle4, andrewthaggard, jasonh0711, brianlau, SBTraining, saajanp2, jobu, electroma.25, and jubrux.
