JLIN NextGen × Hooper
Film review for NextGen athletes
JLIN NextGen partnered with Hooper to capture three days of basketball and give every athlete film they could revisit.
Built for the next generation
JLIN LLC (Jeremy Lin's mission-driven management company) puts on JLIN NextGen, an annual camp for the top men and women AAPI collegiate basketball players. In its second year, the camp combined on-court training with film-based learning.
The film-review challenge
The team wanted athletes to be able to rewatch their performances and use those moments to improve. During the first year, the team tried creating highlights and tracking statistics manually, but the process required too much time and labor.
Days 1–2
Training and drills
Hooper recorded the camp's training sessions and on-court drills.
Day 3
Scrimmage games
Hooper recorded the final day's scrimmages for athletes to review.
A new workflow with Hooper
This year, JLIN NextGen partnered with Hooper to capture and process camp footage. Hooper's AI automatically tracked shot attempts and player activity. Training and drills were recorded on Days 1 and 2, followed by scrimmage games on Day 3.

The athlete experience
A report for every athlete
Each day, up to 4 hours of footage were recorded using a standard phone-and-tripod setup on each half court. The footage was processed and verified by the following morning. After the camp, each athlete received a web report containing personalized footage and stats, making their film easier to search, understand, and revisit. An audio-notes feature also allowed JLIN trainers to record commentary on specific moments.
Filtered film
Footage with downtime removed and filters for made and missed shots, 2-point and 3-point attempts, and individual players.
With Hooper, personalized film review is accessible without the special hardware or the hours of manual work. For training camps, that can mean creating a more meaningful, individualized experience for every athlete.
